The meeting covered the following matters:

  • The University proposed providing staff with the discretion to cash out a component of long service leave entitlement to provide staff with greater flexibility in how you access and use this entitlement. The unions are opposing the introduction of this flexibility ;
  • Unsatisfactory performance: this clause was agreed in principle, except for a couple of details;
  •  Organisational change: this clause was agreed in principle, subject to a couple of details;
  • TESOL language teachers conditions:  the University presented an overall summary of the ICTE financial situation and tabled a proposed set of clauses. The University is seeking an increase in contact hours in exchange for some offsets in what constitutes contact hours. These discussions will continue at the next meeting;
  • Academic workforce and academic workload matters: discussions are continuing on these issues.
